Considering continuing with this if only for my own sadistic pleasure + Nicole enjoys this kind of thing. We shall see.
Sungyeol approached the crossroad with heavy feet, his eyes sunken back into his skull, cracked and red from tears that wouldn’t come anymore. Shaking hands lit a worn candle and a flash of a silver blade glinted in the waning moon. He didn’t even wince as he brought the sharp edge across his palm, spilling red drops onto the candle’s flame, making it burn red for a moment.
There was only silence to follow. Sungyeol’s pleading looks went unnoticed and soon with his hand still bleeding he turned to leave.
A single shadow moved in the flickering light and a figure dissolved out of the darkness. Slightly shorter than Sungyeol with liquid black eyes and dressed in a suit, he was unlike any demon Sungyeol had heard of.
He wasn’t ugly or deformed, flames and sulfur didn’t fall from his mouth. Instead he gave off an icy aura that froze Sungyeol to the bone.
A smirk spread across the demon’s handsome face. “What boon do you wish to ask of me, mortal?”
Sungyeol tried to speak but his mouth had become a desert and all that came out was a raspy croak. The demon chuckled.
"I know what you want," he murmured, his voice low as he slowly circled Sungyeol, "but it will come at a price."
"Anything," Sungyeol managed to whisper.
The demon laughed again and Sungyeol’s blood ran icy in his veins at the sound.
"Your soul…yes, I think that will be the price," the demon said, giving Sungyeol an appraising look. "But…I think…I shall not collect immediately. No, I shall give you three years of peace before I receive my payment."
Sungyeol grabbed at the demon’s coat in desperation. “Anything,” he croaked. “Anything.”
The demon pried Sungyeol’s fingers from his clothing. “Then we have a deal.”
The demon smiled.
"And to seal the transaction…"
Harsh, cold fingers grasped Sungyeol’s face pulling him closer to the demon before those pale lips came crashing down on his.
At first Sungyeol felt the icy inhuman skin on his lips but after a second it changed. Flowing through his body, starting with his lips, was fired. The flames licked at the inside of his skin, spreading through his organs and down to his feet. The searing heat and pain became unbearable and Sungyeol cried out before falling to his knees.
The heat receded immediately from all of his body except his left palm that he had cut for the summoning. His eyes opened.
The demon was gone.
Throbbing pain in his palm caused Sungyeol to look down. There, in the palm of his hand, glowing like embers was a circle with a line through it. The sign blazed once more and Sungyeol hissed in pain, his dry lips cracking from the movement, before it faded back into his skin and disappeared.
Three years and the demon would come to collect.
